At the beginning of 2020, it was generally perceived that bunker industry’s biggest challenge would the implementation of IMO2020. However, the onset of a global pandemic soon put paid to this. Earlier this year, Bunkerspot undertook a wide-ranging survey of key industry players (including Awyr Las’ John Phillips among many notable others), to highlight key issues facing various players. Undoubtedly, decarbonisation is a major feature across all aspects of the marine fuel market but the “post-pandemic” world and the economic repercussions of it will pose further obstacles.
